Australians on alert as heavy rain set to batter the east coast

Parts of Queensland and New South Wales are on alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. Some areas will receive up to 100 millimetres of rain over the coming days in isolated showers as the impact of flooding is likely to be felt from Monday. This is an unseasonal weather event and is expected to last until late Wednesday or Thursday.
