Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashes in Kazakhstan, killing 38
At least 38 people were killed after an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday (Dec 25). Flight J2-8243 flew hundreds of miles off its scheduled route from Azerbaijan to Russia, before it was forced to make an emergency landing near the Kazakh city of Aktau. Officials did not immediately explain why it had crossed the sea, but the crash came after Ukrainian drone strikes this month hit the Chechnya region of southern Russia.
