Barbados will be looking to bring home the bacon and its fifth title when the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Taste of the Caribbean comes off in November and reminds the world why they are the culinary capital of the Caribbean. The last competition was held in December 2019 ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic, but will return this year, with both team and individual medals to be won. The BHTA's Chief Executive Officer Ryan Forde is encouraging all chefs, dessert chefs, mixologists, and budding entrepreneurs to register for the Barbados competition to be held in August, from which the team for the CHTA leg of the competition will be decided. Mr. Forde adds that the training associated with being a part of the culinary team is invaluable. And even if an individual does not win, they will benefit. During the period between the local competition and the taste of the Caribbean, the BHTA will be relaunching its gourmet taste series in September and October to raise funds for the travelling culinary team.
