Baby in Gaza contracts first case of polio in 25 years

A baby has been paralysed in Gaza after contracting polio – the territory's first case in 25 years. The 10-month-old has developed paralysis in the lower left leg but is stable. 1.6 million doses of a vaccine will be delivered to Gaza over a two round immunisation campaign beginning next week. UN agencies are calling for a seven-day humanitarian pause to allow for vaccinations.
