A giant baby king penguin in Australia is breaking the internet and drawing hundreds of visitors to a popular Australia aquarium. Chocolate-brown and fluffy, the nine-month-old chick named Pesto weighs 23.5 kg - more than twice the combined weight of his parents. The brown coat keeps the young ones warm through winter, and they later lose weight as they develop adult feathers. Pesto is the largest chick Sea Life Melbourne has ever seen, and that has made him a hit with fans around the world, said Michaela Smale, who has been caring for Pesto since he hatched. He has featured in television shows and counts US pop star Katy Perry among his top fans. Merlin Entertainments, which operates Sea Life Melbourne, said about 4 billion people had viewed Pesto through the aquarium's social media channels and website. His gender reveal earlier this month went viral on social media, while many of his videos on TikTok have notched up more than a million likes. Another internet sensation from the animal kingdom emerged in Thailand this month, where a baby pygmy hippo named Moo Deng has gained millions of fans on social media following her clumsily charming adventures, and drawn thousands of visitors to the zoo she lives at near the capital, Bangkok.
