Badlapur Encounter LIVE News: Eknath Shinde Defends Cops, Says They Shot Akshay In Self-Defence Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday defended the police over the custodial death of Akshay Shinde, who sexually assaulted two girls in a school toilet in Badlapur, saying the officers shot him in self-defence. Eknath Shinde accused the opposition of playing politics and hypocrisy over the Badlapur incident. "The police fired in self-defence. They had guns, not for show. If he had fled, the opposition would have criticised them and said we forced him to flee. Policemen were injured in the encounter.
