Nobel Peace Prize winning economist Muhammad Yunus was sworn in as the head of Bangladesh’s caretaker government on Thursday (Aug 8). This came three days after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee the country following violent protests. Ali Riaz, Distinguished Professor of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, tells CNA’s Asia First about the challenges the new government faces. He also says it can “definitely” lead the country out of the crisis, at least till the next general election.
