Barbadian workers urged to give support to BWU
The Barbados Workers' Union is urging Barbadian workers to give support to the union as it continues fighting business entities on their behalf. This from General Secretary of the BWU Toni Moore. In her New Year's address, Ms. Moore stressed that just last year the union secured major victories for workers including at Bico and the Barbados Oil Company, ensuring fair treatment and improved working conditions, successfully pushed for the payment of outstanding severance for workers in the sugar industry and secured long-overdue funds for workers at UWI. Ms. Moore says there is still so much more to be done. Ms. Moore lamented the number of companies that continues to profit immensely from the support of Barbadians but refuse to honour its commitments to workers and the country. She says the union intends to call them out in 2025.
