Barbadians to benefit as Gov't enters 2nd debt for climate swap
Within the coming months, the island's South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant will be upgraded from a primary plant to a tertiary one. The announcement from Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn, who explains the improvements will ensure effluent no longer invades the marine space. He says the move comes as Government enters its second debt for climate swap, for which a resolution will be laid in Parliament on Tuesday. Mr. Straughn was speaking at a media workshop titled "Inclusive Narratives: Amplifying Voices in the Blue Space" hosted by the Barbados Marine Spatial Unit in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank. He says the changes will mean more opportunities for Barbadians.
