Barbados continues to use its presence at international fora to push for debt sustainability for small island developing states, SIDS. The plight of SIDS was highlighted by the island's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Kereeta Whyte as she participated in a multi-stakeholder round table on debt and debt sustainability. It formed part of the first session of the preparatory committee for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development in Ethiopia. She put forward four proposals, including a debt service suspension initiative. Ms. Whyte also took part in a multi-stakeholder round table on addressing systemic issues. During that session, she reiterated a call for better representation of developing countries and SIDS in international financial institutions.
