Barbados marks the Day of National Significance

As Barbados commemorated the Day of National Significance, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley reminded that the struggles of the labour movement have led to considerable improvement in the lives of Barbadians. She says July 26 is a day the country can claim as the start of a modern Barbados. Her comments during the Crop Over Folk Concert in Golden Square Freedom Park in commemoration of the island's involvement in the historic Caribbean labour rebellions of the 1930s. Barbados' Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong says the sacrifices and struggles of the generation of 1937 must be honoured. Despite the progress, he says the struggles did not end then.
