Barbados pressing ahead with energy transition
Barbados, as it forges ahead with its energy transition target, cannot wait until 2050. Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins says with the goal to derive 100 percent of its energy from renewable energy, with 2035 being the outer limit, the policy has been set. She however says the regulatory arrangements must keep pace. Senator Cummins is in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where she is participating in the 14th Session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). She added her voice to those pressing for access to finance for small island developing states at levels she says are on terms and conditions that are fit for purpose.
