Barbados Sailing Week sails off
The Junior Sailors Competition got things going for the 2024 Barbados Sailing Week. At the recent opening ceremony at the Barbados Cruising Club, the young sailors were rewarded for their exploits on the sea earlier in the day in the Junior Dinghy Competition. Set to run through to this coming Sunday, the Barbados Sailing Week again will have a packed schedule. Tomorrow will see the remote control dragon flite races at Golden Pond in St. Philip followed on Thursday and Saturday by the coastal races which can be viewed from the Boardwalk in Hastings. Saturday will also see the kite surfing and wing foil events at Long Beach, Christ Church with the big culminating event the Mount Gay Round Barbados Race setting sail on Sunday with 12 yachts from Carlisle Bay in a northerly direction. President of the Barbados Sailing Association, Renata Goodridge, also highlighted that this year's events will be conducted in an environmentally safe manner.
