Barbados says UN is in need of reform
Barbados says the United Nations at 79 years is in need of reform. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kerrie Symmonds says the organisation must continue to be relevant, in the face of today's challenges. He says it's a vital and viable institution which must be protected and promoted. Minister Symmonds' comments came at a function at UN House to commemorate UN Day. UN Day was observed on October 24 which is the day the United Nations charter came into force in 1945. The minister zeroed in on developments in the Middle East and wars involving Israel and other parties, suggesting the situation has become predictable. He believes the senseless slaughter of lives must come to an end.
