By next year Barbados will know the status of its new Constitution. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says following Barbados being named a Republic three years ago, a Constitutional Reform Commission was established and has since handed its report to the President of Barbados the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason and the Prime Minister's Office. She says as Barbados re-engages, re-ignites and re-imagines it's path forward, there is no better time than November to review this report. She says Barbadians must recognise their responsibility not only to light up Barbados, but also to light up their consciousness and sense of purpose. This as Barbados celebrates 58 years of Independence. The City of Bridgetown came alive as the switch was flipped at the annual Sagicor Life Inc. Lighting ceremony. For the first time, the switch was flipped in another location simultaneously - at the Shirley Chisholm Primary School to highlight the centennial celebrations which coincide with the island's Independence Day celebrations.
