Barbados urged to embrace new healthcare treatments

The time has come for Barbados to further enhance its treatment of cardiovascular conditions to embrace some of the new techniques and medications utilised internationally. The call has come from Dr. Marcus St. John, a cardiologist at Baptist Health's Miami Cardiac Vascular Institute. He is on island for the Caribbean Cardiac Society's – 37th Caribbean Cardiology Conference at the Hilton Barbados. While he notes Barbados has an exceptional cadre of cardiologists, he says the improvements are needed across the board. And interventional cardiologist and leader in the Structural Heart Programme Development at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Dr. Nish Patel, is also attending the three-day meeting. He shared details of the latest valve replacement techniques.
