The challenge of not having enough data, especially research pertaining to the Caribbean, is one which Barbados wants to addressed. Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey called attention to the matter, as he addressed a panel discussion organised by the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank. It was themed from 'Data and Research to Policies that Improve Lives in the Caribbean'. Minister Humphrey says the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic saw data being collected as innovative ways were sought to reach out and assist citizens. He says in some instances where data is available, it is not digitised. Principal of UWI Cave Hill, Professor Clive Landis highlighted the importance of data collecting, saying at times it's used to inform policymakers.
