The secretive single justice procedures (SJPs), has been criticised by the Magistrates’ Association who say defendants ‘deserve fair and transparent justice’. Sky News speaks to 'Claire' who was prosecuted for not paying her TV licence at the same time she was battling to successfully gain a lifetime restraining order against her abusive partner. The disabled single mother of two says the courts did not take her situation into account and was frightened of being sent to jail.
