For example, in May 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping and the leaders of five Central Asian countries planted six pomegranate trees following the conclusion of the first China-Central Asia Summit in Xi'an. The trees were specially chosen, symbolizing not only good fortune, friendship and prosperity but also the desire for close cooperation shared by China and Central Asia. The trees planted by President Xi Jinping and other heads of state and foreign dignitaries over the years – pine, ginkgo, spruce, oak and even crab apple trees – have highlighted the importance of promoting international friendship, cooperation and joint development.
