BFTA envisions film clubs in every secondary school
The Barbados Film and Television Association has a vision to see film clubs established in every secondary school on the island. This from BFTA President Jamal Slocombe. He anticipates this coming on stream from next year. According to him, the success of this young filmmakers' initiative will provide a platform for meaningful dialogue from which film production in Barbados can thrive. Mr. Slocombe was addressing the BFTA's film forum at the Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre in Queen's Park. He says although they would be harnessing the talents from the secondary schools they are hoping to start at the Barbados Community College. Mr. Slocombe says they will also be looking to teach young filmmakers the element of business to give them the knowledge and support needed for them to succeed in their respective business ventures.
