Biden addresses protests on Hamas war

US President Joe Biden has spoken out on the college protests against the Israel-Hamas war, after days of silence. Protest encampments have been set up on the grounds of more than 80 college campuses in the US. Speaking at the White House the President informed those involved that violent protests are “not protected” in the same way peaceful ones are. “Dissent is essential in democracy, but dissent must never lead to disorder, or denying the rights of others,” President Biden said. The White House also pushed back on comparisons between the current protests, and protests against the Vietnam war in 1968.
