Biden says "no place for political violence in America" after foiled assassination attempt

U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday commended the Secret Service for its handling of an apparent assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump over the weekend. "America suffered too many times, the tragedy of an assassin's bullet. It solves nothing and just tears the country apart," Biden said in his opening remarks at the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week Conference in Philadelphia. A man suspected of attempting to assassinate the Republican presidential nominee was charged with two gun-related crimes in federal court on Monday, a day after being spotted with a rifle hiding in the bushes at the former U.S. president's golf course in Florida.
