Biden tours storm damage in Florida | ABS-CBN News

US President Joe Biden visited on Thursday the storm-ravaged area of Florida hard hit by Hurricane Helene last week. Biden began his visit in the capital of Tallahassee, made. a helicopter survey of damage near Perry, and received a briefing and met with storm survivors in Keaton Beach. Biden's visit comes on the heels of his trip on Wednesday to North Carolina and South Carolina. Before leaving Washington on Wednesday, Biden directed up to 1,000 active-duty troops to help with response and recovery efforts. More than $10 million has been provided directly to those affected by the storm, the White House said. Hurricane Helene slammed into Florida on Thursday as a powerful Category 4 hurricane before tearing a destructive path through Southeastern states for several days.
