Biden wears Trump hat, jokes "don't eat cats and dogs" at 9/11 commemoration event

U.S. President Joe Biden warned against “eating dogs and cats,” as he traded for and donned a Trump 2024 hat during a visit to a Shanksville, Pa. fire station on Sept. 11. Footage by audience member Mikaylah Sines shows the moment from an event marking 23 years since the 9/11 attacks, with Sines saying the video shows her husband’s grandfather exchanging hats with Biden. Biden’s “dogs and cats” joke was in reference to unsubstantiated rumours about immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, that were brought up by Donald Trump during his TV debate with Kamala Harris. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the following day that the "president gave impromptu remarks about bipartisan unity. That's what he was talking about. And he talked about it in the moment of Sept. 11th. That's what we experienced after 9/11 and he said that we needed to go back to that bipartisan unity as a country."
