NDIS Minister Bill Shorten announced his retirement during the week to take a job at the University of Canberra as vice-chancellor. “This is perhaps one of the best examples yet of why not giving politicians any super at all ... is not a great idea and means you have a situation where ministers have to look for a job while in the job,” Mr Clennell said. “Shorten will start his new role in February, which is close enough to when the next election is due to mean there won't have to be a by-election in his seat of Maribyrnong.”
