‘Bizarre choice’: BBC faces backlash for footballer of the year award

Sky News host Gabriella Power admits the BBC awarding Barbra Banda Women’s Footballer of the Year is a “bizarre choice”. The award caused backlash after the Zambian footballer failed to meet gender regulations over “high testosterone”. “I think it’s a really bizarre choice from the BBC to award Barbara Banda Women’s Footballer of the Year,” Ms Power said. “It’s obviously going to spark controversy. “However, I do feel sorry for her in this case because … it’s not really her fault.”
