The Trinamool Congress drew fire on Sunday as the Opposition in West Bengal attacked the party over a purported video showing a woman and a man being beaten up. The BJP and CPI(M) alleged that the two were beaten by a TMC worker in Uttar Dinajpur district's Chopra area. Reacting to the incident, Chopra MLA Hamidul Rahaman called the woman being beaten up an "evil beast" and said that her activities were "unsocial". However, he also denied him or the party having any links with the man who was seen thrashing the woman in the video. Rahaman said that it was a village matter and had nothing to do with the party.
