Body of grandmother who fell into sinkhole recovered in Pennsylvania: authorities
A four-day search and rescue mission came to an end Friday after police found the body of Elizabeth Pollard – the woman who fell into a sinkhole on Monday night. Pollard, 64, fell through an abandoned coal mine while searching for her cat. She was reported missing later that evening. “We found her approximately 30 feet below the surface of where the mine would have sat,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Steve Limani told reporters during a press conference. Pennsylvania sits among several other states where sinkholes are most common in the U.S., according to the American Geosciences Institute.
