33,000 Boeing factory workers are officially on strike in Washington state. The International Association off Machinist and Aerospace Workers overwhelmingly rejected a contract proposal that offered a 25 percent increase over four years. This follows a tumultuous year for Boeing. In Jan. 2024, a panel malfunction on one of its passenger jets called its safety in question. In February, an issue with the Boeing’s Strainer spacecraft left two astronauts stuck in space. While strike is not anticipated to disrupt flights directly, it may disrupt the production of Boeings’s jetliners. Workers argue that the proposed pay increase does not adequately address the rising cost of living. Initial demands included a 40 percent pay raise over three years and the restoration of a traditional pension. The last major strike at Boeing occurred in 2008 and lasted eight weeks. #shorts Watch CGTN LIVE on your computer, tablet or mobile https://cgtnamerica.vhx.tv/videos/hd-live-broadcasts Subscribe to CGTN America on YouTube Follow CGTN America: Twitter: @cgtnamerica Facebook: @cgtnamerica Instagram: @cgtnamerica TikTok: @newstoks This material is distributed by MediaLinks TV, LLC on behalf of CCTV.
