On June 26, Bolivian President Luis Arce criticized the unauthorized presence of soldiers and tanks near government buildings in the capital La Paz. Bolivian armed forces occupied the central square of the capital. An armored vehicle breached the entrance to the presidential palace, followed by soldiers. “We denounce irregular mobilizations by some units of the Bolivian Army,” Arce wrote on the X social network. Former Bolivian President Evo Morales called it a coup “in the making” in a post on X. AP reports President Arce confronted his military commander on live TV, ordering soldiers to withdraw from government palace.
