BREAKING: Former US president Jimmy Carter dies aged 100

Former US president Jimmy Carter has died aged 100. Mr Carter, a Democrat, became the 39th US president when he defeated former president Gerald Ford in 1976. He was the oldest living former US president and also won the Nobel Peace Prize. He was perhaps best known for brokering the Camp David accords between Israel and Egypt. Mr Carter was receiving hospice care after melanoma spread to his liver and brain.
