BuCor exec recalls 'congrats' from voice of Rodrigo Duterte on deaths of 3 Chinese inmates

Former Davao Prison and Penal Farm warden Supt. Gerardo Padilla recounted receiving a call from "the voice of former President Rodrigo Duterte" congratulating him on the deaths of three Chinese drug lords inside the facility in August 2016. Facing the House quad-committee anew on Thursday (September 19), Padilla corroborated the earlier testimony of inmate Leopoldo Tan about overhearing the voice of Duterte, over a phone call, commending the warden on the killings. "Pinapatotohanan ko ang sinabi ni Tata (Tan) na noong papunta kami sa investigation section ay tumunog ang cellphone ko at ito ay sinagot ko. Ang tumawag sa akin ay, ayon sa boses, si dating President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, at sinabing, 'Congrats, Supt. Padilla, job well done, pero grabe 'yung ginawa, ginawang dinuguan,'" he said. Tan previously testified that he, along with another former Davao prison inmate, were promised money and freedom by law enforcement officers, in exchange for carrying out the kill order against the Chinese convicts. RELATED VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4-25xuT3-k Duterte’s former spokesperson Harry Roque earlier tagged Tan’s statement as “hearsay”, which he said “binds only person confessing and can’t bind third parties such as FPRRD.” Salvador Panelo, Duterte’s former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel, said the accusations against him was part of a “demolition job”. “The enemies of FPRRD are using convicted felons of murders and drug trafficking to link him to the murders of the 3 Chinese detainees of which they were the perpetrators on the basis of their bare allegations,” Panelo said in a statement. “Those convicts have nothing to lose since they are jailed for life. Obviously, they are making those statements for a consideration. If it is true as they say that they killed the 3 Chinese in exchange for money and release from prison, necessarily they can lie about FRRRD’s alleged link to the murders for the same consideration of money and freedom coming from those who want to destroy the Dutertes,” he added.
