Calgary water main break: Officials provide update as mayor stresses gravity of crisis | LIVE
City of Calgary officials are expected to provide another update Wednesday as work continues to repair a water feeder main that has forced Calgarians to conserve water. Mayor Jyoti Gondek on Wednesday emphasized the importance of the water crisis. "I know its tough to watch your clothes pile up," Gondek said as she delivered an on-camera statement. "I know it's tough to look into the mirror sometimes and see some pretty sad, droopy hair. But it's critical." "You and I, and all the people and the pets and the plants that we love so much, need water to survive. It is absolutely our source of life. And that's worth the sacrifice that all of you are making." A boil water advisory in the neighbourhood of Bowness was lifted Monday, but water restrictions remain in place, with Calgarians across the city being told top stop using water outdoors and to do their best to minimize outdoor water use. City officials have described the broken feeder main as a "critical water transmission line" and note the damage has "severely impacted" Calgary's water supply, as well as the ability to move water across the city.
