California plane crash: 2 dead, 20 injured after aircraft hits warehouse
A small plane crashed into a furniture warehouse in Southern California on Thursday resulting in two deaths and 20 injuries, authorities reported. "The airplane departed from runway two four at Fullerton about 2 pm, climbed to about 900 feet, and a short time later, the pilot called for an immediate return to the airport," said Elliot Simpson, an accident investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Deputy Chief of Fire Operations for the City of Fullerton, Michael Meacham, confirmed that the building has been red tagged due to significant damage to the roof system and fire protection. The NTSB will continue its on-scene investigation within the facility before moving the plane to a remote storage facility for further examination.
