Call for Barbados to establish a ministry of cyber security
The next step in Barbados building resilience to combatting cyber crimes, is to establish a ministry of cyber security, separate and apart from Science and Technology. The call from President of the Cyber Doctor Dr. Stephen Boyce, who is a part of an International Cyber Security team on island for the Inaugural Caribbean Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity Summit 2025. The summit closed today following a law enforcement track, where relevant information on bolstering the judiciary's technology infrastructure was shared. And President of Digital Technologies and Services Neil Hinds says if necessary steps are not taken to secure the island's digital infrastructure, it is only a matter of time before another attack occurs. He stresses that both public and private sectors need to work together to defend against cyber threats.
