Call for global south countries to own credit rating agencies

Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Senator Chad Blackman is among the Barbados delegation in The Bahamas. During a plenary session titled 'Managing Macroeconomic Crises: Some Lessons from Africa and the Caribbean', he suggested time has long passed for countries of the global south to have their own credit rating agencies. In proposing the idea, Senator Blackman stated current agencies on which the region relies on have moved away from their original intent and the implications are massive.
