Call for ILO support for Bridgetown Initiative 3.0

Barbados wants the support of the International Labour Organisation as it promotes the Bridgetown Initiative 3.0. It was recently launched by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for consultation at the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States in Antigua and Barbuda. Bridgetown 3.0 seeks to change rules around representation at international financial institutions and the use of per capita gross national income as a criterion for access. Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector, Colin Jordan says the ILO must be onboard with the global coalition, if the international community is to be galvanised for human-centred developmental policies. Mr. Jordan was among the speakers for the ongoing 112th International Labour Conference in Geneva. He updated the conference on initiatives and legislation introduced by Barbados to protect workers, noting the island values its people as they contribute their intellectual and physical labour to national development.
