Call for proper procedures to be followed when dealing with stray dogs

An animal rights activist is calling for proper procedures to be followed when dealing with stray dogs. The call from founder of Action for Animals Gail Hunte says there is legislation in place, but it is not enforced. She says Barbados is a part of the United Nations where there are animal welfare mandates in place. In 2019, the Convention for Animal Health and Welfare was drafted, and the legislation should be heard at the UN General Assembly in 2029 or before. But Ms. Hunte says, Barbados cannot wait that long to implement or enforce that law. Further, Ms. Hunte is urging people to be responsible when giving pets as gifts for Christmas.
