Call to re-evaluate social services
Head of the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness Kemar Saffrey says they are encountering a strange situation, where some people are actually trying to book ahead specific time frames in the shelter, in anticipation of becoming homeless. He made the comment as the Alliance hosted a discussion at the Courtney Blackman Grand Salle of the Central Bank on the topic of 'The Impact of Homelessness on Bridgetown". Mr. Saffrey says under the circumstances there's a need to re-evaluate the social services in the island since the shelter and its staff are limited in what they can do to help the increasing number of people going on the streets for different reasons.
