Call to revisit concessions bill
In his maiden address as Opposition Leader in the Lower House, Christ Church South MP, Ralph Thorne called on Government to revisit the Labour Clauses Concessions Bill. This as he notes it presents some legal difficulties and stands on what he describes as "a shaky legal ground." He's highlighted the section which will empower the minister to suspend or revoke tax concessions from hoteliers who fail to comply with the legislation. The Opposition Leader is concerned about the powers extended to Ministers in the legislation and in general.
