Calls for Secret Service chief to be sacked following security failure at Trump rally

The head of the Secret Service has refused to resign despite conceding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump is the most significant operation failure in decades. At the end of a lengthy and fiery congressional hearing, the most senior Republican and Democrat on the committee called on President Joe Biden to sack US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle or for her to tender her resignation immediately. Ms Cheatle wasn’t able to answer some of the questions nine days after the shooting at Mr Trump’s Pennsylvania rally, which led to incredibly fiery moments from both sides as they pressed the Secret Service boss.
