Calls grow for Queensland Premier to protect children from gender-affirming surgeries

The Courier Mail columnist and Sky News contributor Des Houghton is calling on Queensland Premier David Crisafulli to act on and protect underage and still-developing children from puberty blockers and gender-affirming surgeries. “Children and teenagers as young as nine in this state are prescribed puberty blockers,” Mr Houghton told Sky News Australia. “Girls of 15 are having double mastectomies called gender-affirming surgeries. “There were 35 of these in Queensland in a year, there are a few more in New South Wales and a few less in Victoria.”
