Canada sees rise in antisemitic incidents since start of Israel-Hamas conflict
Canada’s Jewish community is raising concerns about the worrying rise in antisemitism in this country. Since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel in which militants killed about 1,200 and took some 250 people hostage, hate crimes against Canada's Jewish community have increased significantly. In Toronto, Canada’s largest city, there were 98 reported hate crimes between Oct. 7 and Dec. 17 last year compared to 48 in the same period in 2022, according to data from the Toronto Police Service. Caryn Lieberman reports on the rise in antisemitism and the impact it's having on Canada’s Jewish community.
