Canada signs new trade agreement with Indonesia amid Trump tariff threat
Canadian Trade Minister Mary Ng announced a new trade agreement Monday between Canada and Indonesia, which she said will help foster bilateral trade between the two countries. The agreement, which takes effect in 2026, aims to strengthen economic ties between the two G20 member countries. “We are creating a predictability of our trading relationship, bringing down tariffs and also creating that environment that really enables companies to want to grow into this market,” Ng said during her visit to Indonesia. The agreement between Canada and Indonesia comes as countries around the world contemplate the impact of a 2nd Trump presidency on trade with the United States.
