CARIFTA track & field team returns from Grenada
The Barbados CARIFTA athletics team arrived home last night. The 31 athletes, along with their coaches and support staff were greeted at the Grantley Adams International Airport by family, friends and clubmates after a modest performance. Barbados finished the 51st CARIFTA Track and Field Championships at the Kirani James Stadium in Grenada with six medals - 2 Silver and 4 Bronze. Head Coach Ramon Armstrong says Barbadians ought not to be disappointed with the results. Among the medal winners were Aragorn Straker - Silver medallist in the Boys Under-20 200 metres; Jayden Walcott in the Under-17 Boys Shot Putt, taking the Silver medal; Aniya Nurse captured Bronze in the Under-17 Girls 100m final; and Teon Haynes captured Bronze in the Under-20 Boys Long Jump. Next year's games will be in Trinidad and Tobago.
