Carles Puigdemont back in Spain: Former Catalan separatist returns to Barcelona
Former Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont has returned to Spain after seven years of self-imposed exile and in defiance of an arrest warrant. Puigdemont addressed a large crowd of supporters in Barcelona a short time ago. Puigdemont faces several charges which include organising an illegal independence referendum in Spain in 2017. He is now likely to be detained over an outstanding arrest warrant for alleged embezzlement, which he denies. Mar Aquilera Varques is a professor of Constitutional Law at Barcelona University. She says that if authorities arrest Puigdemont, it would be in violation of the law as he is a member of parliament Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish Find us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aljazeera Check our website: http://www.aljazeera.com/ Check out our Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/aljazeeraenglish/ Download AJE Mobile App: https://aje.io/AJEMobile #Spain #SpainPolitics #Catalonia #CarlesPuigdemont #CatalanParliament #CatalanIndependence #PuigdemontReturns #LongLiveCatalonia #TogetherForCatalonia #Junts #JuntsperCatalunya #CatalanPoliticalParty #AlJazeeraEnglish
