Changing weather patterns affecting aquifers

Changing weather patterns are affecting Barbados' aquifers. National Project Coordinator for the Water Sector Resilience Nexus for Sustainability in Barbados initiative, Alex Harewood highlighted that despite recent bouts of sharp rain, the aquifers are not being recharged. Water as a result is lost due to runoff or goes out to the sea. To counter this, he says the Barbados Water Authority and other agencies are working to rehabilitate over 20 infiltrations or suck wells. These he says are located in key areas across Barbados to assist with recharging the aquifers. Mr. Harewood was among the panel for a town hall meeting at the St. George Parish Church.
