Chanté Kwéyòl 2024 -the 12th Edition [Saint Lucia]

Dans Caraibes

It all started in 2012 with the leader of the Soca-Lypso Tent Gordon “Chacom” “Gin” Leon as a Kwéyòl Calypso Competition. It became a song competition two years later and with the involvement of Caron Tobierre it became a National Kwéyòl Song Competition – Annou manjé, dansé, chanté Kwéyòl – part of the Saint Lucia’s Creole Heritage Month. Chacom passed in 2017, but the dream lived on through his friend Caron Tobierre who has now taken the event into its 12th season with the tribute tagline “Annou manjé, dansé, chanté Kwéyòl pou Chacom”. Calabash TV has been a key part of this legacy, documenting the event annually. This year’s show was Emceed by Nintus Magre and dedicated to the memory of Jaunty, who passed last year.
