Chile adopts Himalayan ice stupa technique to combat drought and revive Andes ecosystem

Scientists in South America are drawing inspiration from Asia to help solve the drought crisis in Andes Mountains. Artificial glaciers in the Himalayas have helped the storage and flow of water to communities, long after the snow has melted. Now, researchers in Chile want to take advantage of the abundant ice in the winter, to keep water available when the summer settles in.
