The team recently collected seawater samples aboard the country's research icebreaker Xuelong 2. It has 24 water bottles that can be remotely handled and take water samples at different depths. According to the expedition team, the seawater samples collected are used to meet the research needs of various projects. The team members doing biological research will analyze the tiny plankton in the samples that are invisible to the naked eye. Meanwhile, those doing chemical research will add reagents to the water samples to analyze the organic and inorganic contents.
